Detailed description: He closely resembles a barn owl but is a bit smaller in size. He has dark eyes and the typical barn owl heart shaped face. He has alternating rows of black and golden tipped feathers on his wings that give the appearance of stripes on his wings and tail. His shoulder area has a large black patch. There are rows of dots on the feathers of his forehead extending backward from his facial disk backward to his neck. His body itself is mottled black and golden with pale underparts patterend with dots and beige,unmarked legs, and light yellow talons.
