A family of Burrowing Owls is being constantly troubled by a rogue Owl. The son had flown all the way to Silverveil to find a patrol of Guardians, where he told of their story before returning to his family. The patrol came back to the tree with their hot coals and told the king, who has gathered a small group of owls - a navigator, a good leader and then a mix of good fighters and fliers. Find the owl, and get rid of him.
Involved are Leonidasryb, Lupinus, Tobias, Shellaina, and one or two more owls. This takes place a while before the battle, as not to confuse. Rogue owl is played by Fin. [/center] It was sunny on the Island of Hoole, a perfect day for flying, but most owls knew that at this time of the year in the desert in the far distance, it was the rainy season. Storms rolled and rain thrashed down on the cracked and dry earth for almost six months straight until the dry season came. It was midday. A small group of owls, led by the search-and-rescue ryb Leonidas, were set to head off for the desert of Kuneer to help a family in trouble. The ryb had asked for a eager group of youngsters, and was pleased when he found out who they were.
Their meeting point was on the most southern part of the island, a large jagged rock just off the coast that burst out of the ocean like a dagger. The Great-grey had perched there a few heartbeats ago, being the first to arrive. Looking around, he hooted loudly and deeply, calling out for his group. They needed to get moving if they were to reach Kuneer by tomorrow first-light.

Horton was just a trainee - he still had so much to learn. But he was learning fast, at least when it came to flying. He had a difficult time remembering all the names of the different winds and storms, but he was trying, and he was so curious. Most of all, though, he had a talent for flying those winds and storms, whether or not he really understood what was going on. He just felt it, in his gizzard, not in words. And though he was still learning, when he'd heard about the mission to Kuneer, he had volunteered immediately - he knew he could help flying through the stormy weather in the desert, and he felt a blaze in his gizzard, ready to help.
He swooped down from the dining hollow, where he had been eating - or, nervously picking at his food - and banked towards the rock at the edge of the island. He landed on the rock, keeping a respectful distance from Leonidas. This was a ryb he hadn't spent much time with, but he was eager to please and show he could be helpful in this mission. "Hello!" he hooted, shifted from one foot to the other on the branch. This was so exciting! His first mission!

Shellaina made her way to the jagged rock where she and the other owls were supposed to meet before the mission. She was excited to be seeing Kuneer. She had spent most of the night wondering what it would be like to see the desert. As she neared the rock, she had a thought. Was she the only one who had not been to the desert of Kuneer? Of course, there were others in the Great Tree who had not been there, but what if she messed up during the mission? I'll just have to try my best, Shellaina told herself. She landed on the rock, seeing Leonidas and Horton. "Hello Leonidas, Horton." She said upon her arrival.

Madidus was both pleasantly surprised and confused about being asked to go on this mission. Of course, he had been dying to get out and explore after he had healed, but didn't think he'd get to leave on a mission like this! He was confused about how he would possibly be useful and just decided not to bring it up. He'd just go along and do his best.
As he flew over to their meeting place, he noticed that most of the others were already there. Madidus began to panic, thinking he was late. He knew his flying skills weren't the greatest since he was injured for so long, but he thought he would still get to the jagged rock on time. He landed a bit after another young owl, muttering, "Sorry if I'm late or anything...."
Looking around at the other owls, he realized he didn't really know any of them. He'd seen them in passing, of course, but had difficulty recalling their names. The only one he could name was Leonidas, since he was pretty well known among the Guardians. Madidus hoped he was safe only knowing that much, and settled down to wait for instructions.
