WELCOME TO THE SITE
Hello, and welcome to Take To The Sky, an intermediate Guardians of Ga'hoole roleplay!
We require a good-level of understanding of how roleplays work, and you must be at the right level as everyone else roleplaying, but a knowledge of the Guardians books or films isn't essential - we've pretty much got all the information you'd ever need here.
Well, you've just arrived, what do you do now? Well this is what this thread is for - to guide you through everything you'll need to do to set you up for your time here.
First and foremost - you'll need to read all of the rules THOROUGHLY to avoid future problems! Every site has rules, and we're no different, but don't assume ours are the same.
Site Rules
Posting/Character Rules
Cbox Rules
Now that you've ready these without missing anything, you're ready to explore the site!
The first thing you might want to do is introduce yourself over at the Welcome Committee board, explaining who you are and where you found us. There is also a sub-board for any questions you may have for us that aren't answered in this guide!
Next on your list will be to get yourself familiar with the staff members - that would be myself, Fin the admin who controls everything and everyone *evil laugh*. I am accompanied by my co-admin Myth, who has a similar role as myself. Our Bio-checker, Ruby, controls whether a character is accepted and that the person is good enough to roleplay on our site. The final staff member is Nessa, our Graphics moderator whos job is both Graphics and some moderation of the boards. Please respect all staff members - got a problem with someone? You send me a message, don't announce it publicly. We made the rules, so it's likely we're not going to go against them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Great - now you're settled, lets make our first character! First things first, we head over to the "Flurry of Feathers" category where all character-related-things are. Before making your character, why not check out some of the other characters who have been accepted? Good examples are: Raleigh, Echo, Streiter
Okay now we've looked at some accepted bios, lets go over to the Create a Character board.
Go to the "Character Form" thread and this is where you have to decide what your first character will be - Guardian, Remnant or a Freeflier? For your first character, it is suggest you are either a Guardian trainee or a Remnant soldier, as it is a good starting place.
Guardian trainees are young owls training to be Guardians in a chaw - confused about chaws? Heres a useful thread. You are allowed to choose your own chaw instead of us assigning you one, unlike many other forums.
Remnant soldiers are Tyto owls (as all remnants are Tytos!) that are part of the army, separated into groups called "Companies", each led by a Captain. Soldiers can be all ages as it is more vague than the Guardians. Same procedure as before - you can choose which company you want, A or B.
More information on the ranks
Copy whichever form applies to you and make a new thread in the Character Creation board. This part is up to you - I've put as much guidance on the form as possible to ease confusion, so try your hardest! If it is your first bio, you will need to put where you found us (site specific, please) and then a roleplay example. It doesn't have to be owls, but it is advised. This is a big part in determining if you are good enough.
If you get rejected, don't complain about it - there is a reason. Find out why you were (Ruby usually leaves a comment as to why) and then improve from there.
After all of this, you should have made your first character! Well done
--------------------------------------------------------------------
After being accepted, you can either do two things - ask for a certain character to roleplay with or make a sub-plot for your character in the "Searching the Night" board in "Other character stuff", or create an 'open' roleplay with that word in the title. Make sure your thread is long enough, and is in a good place (e.g flying around the sea, but posted in the dining hollow? I don't think so.)
By this stage, you should be fully ready to participate in this forum happily! Any questions? Feel free to pm myself, or make a thread in the Q+A board.
LOVE FROM STAFF
